About EIEI ACOFI 2023

The Colombian Association Engineering Schools (ACOFI, acronym in Spanish) will hold a new version of the ACOFI International Engineering Education Meeting (EIEI ACOFI, acronym in Spanish) from September 19 to 22, 2023, with the central theme “Engineering to transform territories”.

he EIEI ACOFI 2023 will have different academic spaces, such as panels, dialogues with experts, workshops, technical activities and lectures on the central theme and will also have the activities that it has maintained in each of its versions related to trends in teaching-learning strategies, the contribution of engineering to development, in a great setting that will allow exhibitors and participants from different places to share their knowledge and experience.

In the EIEI ACOFI 2023, deans, academic and administrative directors, engineering professors and students, representatives of the productive sector, State entities, unions and society will participate, who will interact to study, analyze, debate and reflect on how engineering education is essential for the economic and social progress of the territories.

The EIEI ACOFI 2023 will have different modalities of participation: the presentation of the papers on engineering education, the tenth version of the Forum of Engineering Students, the fifth version of the Meeting of Doctoral Students in Engineering, the presentation of advances in engineering research and a academic event on the teaching of basic sciences in engineering programs.

In this way, the Meeting constitutes a great opportunity to interact with organizations, companies, government, and representatives of institutions in one of the most important scenarios of engineering education in the world.

In the EIEI ACOFI 2023 there will be leading engineering personalities with the purpose of generating an area of deepening knowledge in the different areas of the profession, to promote the exchange of ideas and experiences and establish cooperation ties.

The Board of Directors and the administrative office of ACOFI invite the entire engineering academic community, represented by its schools, undergraduate and graduate programs, institutes, centers, and research groups; to businessmen and unions related to engineering; to local, regional, national and international governments; to regional and global organizations; to the media and, in general, to society interested in knowing how engineering generates transformation for a better world.

General objective

The EIEI ACOFI 2023 is the academic event to study, analyze and debate how engineering schools, and programs are essential for the development of a region, a country, the world, based on knowledge, recognition, and construction of opportunities. That are generated in the territories, in the fields, social, technological, digital, environmental, among others, for transformation and progress.

Specific objectives

  • To be an academic space in which the entire academic engineering community, represented by managers, professors, administrative staff, undergraduate and graduate students, representatives of the productive and governmental sectors and society as a whole, present their initiatives, experiences and contributions for the transformation of the territories.
  • Know how the contributions from the teaching of engineering and the curriculum are strategic for the advancement of society.
  • Recognizing the importance of water, energy in all its sources, the contributions of technology for health, new technologies and the proper use of renewable and non-renewable natural resources have a high impact to improve our quality of life.
  • Strengthen the academic work of schools, and engineering programs in relations with states, governments, organizations, and society in general.

Founded in 1533, on the shores of the Caribbean Sea, this historic city stands out for the preservation of its colonial architecture in the old town. This characteristic earned it the declaration as a world heritage city by Unesco and to be the favorite to visit by tourists from all latitudes.

It is enough to walk its streets, contemplate its balconies, visit the monuments, squares and parks, and of course, walk through its walled cordon to treasure various historical scenes of this Colombian Caribbean city.

The international airport of Cartagena de Indias is one of the most significant in Colombia, due to the tourist movement. It has international flights from America and Europe. It is transited annually, on average, more than five million passengers.
