In the context of EIEI ACOFI 2016, it will be held the third meeting of engineering students in which to share experiences from his vision of entrepreneurship and innovation. Through projects, conferences, workshops and debates, will be sared experiences, reflections and lessons learned from the different careers and engineering schools in the country. With the objective of allow the existence of a feedback from students to their institutions and other partners in improving the process of learning and teaching in various engineering programs.
Activities
1. Workshop Logistic Beer Game (Suply Chain Managemnt)
Organizational aspects
Date and time: Friday, October 7 2016, 08:30 – 10:00 hours
Language: Spanish
Workshop site: Convention Center Cartagena de Indias
Speakers
Jimena Bedoya Flórez and Diego Ordóñez, GEIO Group
Justification
The playful proposed by the laboratory GEIO Engineering emerge as a felt need to carry salons microworlds class (scenarios of real life) where engineering students can SEE, LIVE and apply the concepts that theoretically have received throughout their careers.
Based on this need GEIO, accommodates all activities that promote, from the constructivist approach, the key competencies for the proper discharge of the Engineer, as the current labor market requires certain characteristics for professionals in the future. The idea is then promote and articulate from the team GEIO methodological approach, which requires the means whereby the academy offers and thus reduce the gap that has been growing in this regard.
Objectives
GENERAL
- Perform a parallel to the lectures and presentations INTERNATIONAL MEETING IN ENGINEERING EDUCATION ACOFI 2016, which will be held playful activity, constructivist and fun teaching related issues LOGISTICA and Systems Thinking Workshop.
SPECIFIC
- Develop the recreational activity that encourages communication, creativity and evidencing the implementation of specific skills by the participants.
- Simulate through a microworld a supply chain with which concepts such as Supply Chain, the bullwhip effect and delays in the systems studied.
- Understand the supply chain, from the systemic approach proposed by Peter Senge.
- Provide feedback with participants proposed model evaluation.
- Experiencing how the playful microworlds in the active role of participants in their own learning power and as agents of change realities, all interacting with their peers.
Presentation of the playful
Workshop: to present a playful activity for 1,5 hours
This workshop involves issues pertaining to the Supply Chain Management (SCM), Bullwhip Effect, inventory management, systems thinking and mental models; offering an innovative methodological strategy as the Beer Game for the appropriation and application of these concepts.
Topics: Supply Chain Management, Bullwhip Effect, Inventory Management, Systems Thinking, Mental Models
SUBJECTS AND POWERS
- Knowledge Supply Chain, Logistics, Bullwhip Effect
- Teamwork
- Communication
- Systems Thinking
- systemic Archetypes
- Mental Models
Development workshop
- PLAYFUL: BEER GAME AND SUPPLY CHAIN
Phase 1 (Duration: 15 minutes): Overview of the activity, game instructions specifying the objectives to be achieved and the use of assessment rubrics.
Phase 2 (duration: 40 minutes): Implementation of Supply Chain Beer as originally designed.
Phase 3 (duration: 35 minutes): Identification of errors and intervention points in the supply chain by participants. Plan development improvements as the shortcomings noted in the results of the first run, graphical representation of the supply chain through the systems archetype, mental models present in a system; conclusions and discussion among participants.
* Note: The research group GEIO, is responsible for supplying from his laboratory all teaching materials required to perform the activities.
The event organizers will only provide the physical space (living room or auditorium) with tables and chairs that can be easily moved to the development of activities, plus a video projector, and of course the best arrangement for activities.
2. Flash Competition
Organizational aspects
Date and time: Thursday, October 6 2016, 14:00 – 16:00 hours
Language: Spanish
Workshop site: Convention Center Cartagena de Indias
Objective
The main objective of this activity is that students tell us how they see from their perspective innovation in their faculties applied to education in engineering.
Metodology
Those interested should prepare a document of no more than 5 pages (free format) with your experience and send email eiei@acofi.edu.co before September 23, 2016, they must also prepare a presentation of their contribution of no more 10 minutes, which will be presented in Cartagena in the already defined schedule.
The best paper will be awarded in academic closing on Friday.
Note: Papers accepted will not be included in the memories of the event and exposure will only orally at the date and time indicated
3. Community Service “Sowing engineers”
Organizational aspects
Date and time: Thursday, October 6 2016, 10:30 – 12:30 hours
Language: Spanish
Workshop site: Unknown
Objective
Encourage students to primary and secondary education as a career to choose any of the different engineering that are offered in Colombia, with reference to the high demand and the small number of graduates in engineering focused on ICT.
Activity
With students from primary and secondary education by attending the conduct integrated EIEI them make the challenge “Marshmallow” groups.
Materials
Packages of spaghetti, marshmallows, tape and pita.
Motivation
The lack of training of ICT engineers in Colombia is accentuated when compared with other countries. In China they formed a year about 677 thousand professionals in India 600 000. Mexico is a leader in the region with 96 000 engineers per year, followed by the USA with 75 000, Brazil 33 000, 28 000 and Colombia France 14,500 on average a year.
And beyond the total numbers in the other countries the number of students is increasing year after year, at a rate of 26% annually in China by 17% in India, 12% in Korea, 10% in Brazil, while in Colombia It presents a fall of 5%.
In Colombia there is a shortfall of 15 000 engineers and it is estimated that the figure is closer to 100 000 in 2019 if immediate measures are not taken, according to a study commissioned by the Ministry to EAFIT and Infosys. (From Week Magazine)
4. Explore engineering with fischertechnik
Organizational aspects
Date and time: Wednesday, October 5 2016, 16:30 – 18:30 hours
Language: Spanish
Workshop site: Convention Center Cartagena de Indias
Activity
University life goes through multiple styles of teaching, each teacher has methodologies and different styles of teaching, how each person learns is also diverse and is the focus of this workshop, where he explores fischertechnik how each participant learn individually and collectively. multimedia, digital and print tools are used to develop a thematic and respond to a problem posed by 3D design, programming, assembly and distribution.
Call
Poster Competition
With the aim of supporting the valuable research work of students and their participation in the event, we have created the “Poster Competition” category students, who can send their works that deal with the proposed themes (see Main themes). You can perform the job Sending an email eiei@acofi.edu.co 10 pages maximum. It should be based on the prescribed format for this purpose, which is included in the instructions that can be downloaded here:
